CLEAR Caliper paint?
CLEAR Caliper paint?
I'm approaching the end of my C5 upgrade and am almost done polishing them up (takes A LOT of patience, a radio, and dozens of DREMEL buffs/polish compund)
Anyway, I'm looking for a hard CLEAR coating I can put on them, similar to the high-temp colored enamel coatings you can buy for calipers.
Every place that provides caliper paint seems to only have white or various colors... no clear.
I emailed the makers of POR-15 and asked them about PLEUCID and GLISTEN PC. (http://www.por-15.com/clearcoat.html)
While they said neither would hold up to 700*F temperatures, they said that they've had people use them on calipers with no problems reported and asked wether I was sure I'd get that hot.
I was kinda high-balling them to see what they'd say, but I guess tha with most fluids I be using boiling at ~400*F, I probably don't need more than that anyway (by then I have other problems
).
I'm not looking to have mirror's in my wheels year-round, but I would like to have a hard surface protecting this polished aluminum from brake dust for easy cleaning.
Anybody have another option?
(I'm still waiting for POR-15 to reply about the 400*F limit)
