Auto Custom Carpet is JUNK!!!

What an ordeal! I was looking for carpet for my '94 Formula and finally found what I thought I wanted from Auto Custom Carpet. Basically I wanted something shipped without the backing to save weight and without the console cut out because I have a B&M Pro Stick. I ordered it from Summit ($200 compared to ACC's price of over $300). Long story short it took them FOUR times to get it right because it kept coming with the console cut out despite the instructions right on the invoice from Summit not to do this. When it finally did come it just didn't look right; appeared to be "flat" and not molded specifically to our cars. I spent all day Saturday trying to install it and it ended up looking like SH**!! I was disgusted!! I called Summit that evening and told them that even thought I cut it and knew I would eat $200 I wanted to let them know I expected more from them and thought they should know that one of their vendors was selling CRAP. Summit graciously agreed to pay the return shipping and refund me the purchase price even though I cut it already (super customer service!) but now I have to find some good, MOLDED carpet. I've done a search and the one that comes up a lot for F-body carpets won't work anymore with the link provided. Any other ideas?

Junkyards or people parting out cars. Only way to find carpet that'll fit perfect, aftermarket is junk for stuff like carpet/floor mats and things for interior.

EDIT: Look what I found in the for sale section

When I bought new carpeting for my old third gen, it was a hassle as well as it just didn't fit right. At least Summit made good on it though.

Scott,
Did you try using a heat gun on it yet?

I planned on having a custom color carpet ordered, but never got around to it. I don't know anyone who has used them, but... the place I was going to use was http://www.auto-interior.com/chevy3.html#CAMARO
because they allowed you to choose the molded carpet in custom colors. I was going to have ocean blue.

Scroll down on the page and make sure you are looking at the correct year BTW. You can order them in factory colors, custom colors, and Xtreme colors.

It has a big toss-up between and just kidding

If I had a black car, I'd consider this just for the shock value:

I've read many good things about Car Motorsports on thirdgen.org. I've never heard anything from someone with a fourth gen though. Here's a link if you want to check it out. http://www.carmotorsports.com/carpet.htm

I ordered carpet from there this past October for my '95. It took less than a week to arrive, and when it did, it was easy to cut and trim. It was considerably lighter than the factory but then again I didn't add the jute padding for the rear cargo/ hatch area. I also removed my rear seats and seatbelts, so the carpet does not lay as well as you might expect. I ordered the graphite, but it is not GM graphite in color, which leads me to believe that the other color options are not exact matches, too. But then again the carpet was less than $200 and I was looking for a quick fix.

Pros: fast shipping, easy to cut/ trim, decent price

Cons: not exact color, could be molded better

Hope this helps.

Can you explain jute padding to me? I didn't understand that on the website. What is it? It said jute padding in the cargo area and I just had a big WTF hanging over my head.

Do you have any pics of the carpet before installation? Does it include the entire trunkspace minus the soft carpet mat that goes on the hump back there?

I planned on going with the sound deadening material they offer. This is for a future car I'm buying in the next year or two though. Not one I currently own. I'm actually really heavily leaning towards that Flaming Fuchsia color since this will be a show car I'm building in the next few years...

If you look at my pic the "jute" is the white stuff showing at the cut edges aroung the shifter. its just matted thread and string and junk fiber. I removed all of it except around the shifter area as the console didnt fit right without it.

Oh ok, thanks. When I finally buy my project car, I'm definitely going to have to car these people and ask if I can get mine without that rubber padding for under the pedals. I don't like that.

Did any of you order floormats from these online places? I want to know if they fit as perfect as the stock ones.

Just a question, how did you order it without the padding and expect it to fit like stock? It's designed to fit with the padding, which is between a quarter inch and a half inch thick. If you removed the backing from the stock carpet it wouldn't fit like stock, either.
