Question Artic Purple headlights?

I've been looking for 100w bulbs to install in my FF75 housings and keep coming across HyperWhites and HyperPurples?

Anyone have any pics of the Purple, or any reason why someone would want Purple lights?

Thanks,

Brian

I had the purples before I switched to FF75's, they are supposed to "give you that bmw look without having to pay for real hid's" which from my own experience is poo poo. However, they do give you a different color white than the blue coated bulbs, so if you want a different look, go for those. I took pics of FF75's at night, and for some reason the blue ones that i have in those look like what the purple ones looked like in the old housings, so for an idea look at page 2 in my sig.

You wouldn't happen to have any more close up pics of your FF75 install do you? I'm getting everything together and I'm going to try to install them this weekend.

Also...do you have any trouble with rock chips? I was afraid a rock might bounce up there and crack one of the housings (happened to my stock headlights once). Anyway...I already went ahead and ordered a set of clear Wade headlight covers from Jeg's.

Thanks,

Brian

I'd appreciate any close up pics of the headlight area you could get. I already have my FF75s and I'm ordering bulbs today (I sure as hell don't want to wait 'till after I install the housings to change bulbs!). I just want to see how other people have mounted theirs...I pm'd pu12en12g but I haven't heard anything back from him yet and I didn't know you already had these housings. There's only one screw so I don't think I can screw them up too bad

Thanks!

Sorry man, it keeps saying my PM box is full.. I dunno why.

As far as I know you WILL have to modify the stock headlight mounts to fit the brackets. I used a dremel to do this, so it was fairly quick.

I don't have a very good digital camera, or I would take more pics for ya...

Good plan on the clear covers...

I was looking at the brackets today, but just for a minute (it's 28* right now ) It looks to me like the stock brackets are not going to be wide enough, is that what has to be modified with the dremel?

No biggie on the pics...as far as I knew you were the only one with the FF75s that I could ask for pics.

Look for my post...titled "Cheapest place to find Hella FF75 housings"

I found mine at Advance Auto for $59.88/pair, it comes with 55w H7 bulbs, relay, and wiring, basically everything you need.

94BlackBowtie posted a thread about the limits of the stock wiring harnesses...Go here for it

If you decide to upgrade to higher wattage bulbs (I am...White30th has as well as pu12en12g) you'll need to wire in the relay...see above link

I'm also replacing the foglight bulbs to match the look of the headlights and installing clear headlight covers 'cause I don't want a rock bouncing up and cracking one of the housings...just some things you may want to consider.

They will be just barely wide enough.. but there isnt enough clearance underneath the bracket where you mount them .

You have to remove ALL of the stock headlight housing hardware/adjusting stuff. Then you take the Hella Housing, and flip it upside down, now the mounting bracket bolt points upwards. Then you have to dremel out the rear top part of the stock mounting bracket... etc.. etc..

I had to dremel out the same stuff, as well as just a little bit off the sides, so in case I need to adjust them for whatever reason, its a lot easier to do it. Also, Im not sure if pu12en12g found an easy way to do it, but removing the horizontal headight adjusters was a bitch for me, so I pretty much dremeled them off.

Yeah, I noticed that it's not going to be easy to remove...is it just 2 tiny bolts on one side and a clip on the other? I didn't notice any bolts holding it on one side
