Anyone here good with METAL working?
Here's the deal: got a set of stainless door sills (won't name the company cuz I'm not too 100% satisfied with them). Anyway, the edges of them are jagged, a little crooked AND the top edge of the sills are WAVEY. This pissed me off the most, because it's not an easy fix. I emailed them asking for a better set and they said that all the sills are like and that they don't have time to make them perfect, so basically I'm on my own and to use sand paper. (Gee thanks. Like I knew I was spending $125 for crap workmanship.)
So I start sanding last night. AND BOY DO I SAND with heavy grit (I think it was 220 or so). I sanded these damn things at least an hour until my hand felt like it was going to fall off.
They look better, but still have imperfections. I cannot for the life of me get the waves out on the top edges of the sills. It looks some fool cut these with a jig saw.
QUESTION IS:
Is there a machine or other form of sanding I can do to bevel the edges???

the bad thing about stainless steel is that it will show every scratch. Im not sure what you mean by "wavey". did they cut the edges crooked or is the metal bowed. if its bowed it is probably due to too much heat. pics would be nice

if you mean the edges are just not straight and they are rough, then go buy a dremel tool or a small grinder (dremel would probably be better for precision work though), mark off what it will take to make the edges like you want, and grind away. be careful not to go too far, remember its easier to take off than it is to add.

I got it much better today using a fine file and rough sand paper. I then buffed them out with compound and then finished them with Mother's polish. Way too much effort though, for a $125 set of door sills. Took several hours of work. Installed them this evening. They look real nice though...

Could u pm me the company's name as well? I eventually want to get stainless steel door sills and I don't want to deal with a company that doesn't stand behind their products like that..
