Anyone ever thought about this side exhuast set-up

Okay I know the side exhuast set-up coming out just before the rear tire does not look to good on our late generation camaros. But How would the stock square tips (chrome/stainless) look on the side of the car flush with the body. Like the mustang roush cobras. I think that would look killer. It would like awesome even more with a ground effect package to make it have that clean look to it. Any one have this exhuast set-up - If so Have pictures of it you can post

Re: Anyone ever thought about this side exhuast set-up

I have thought about it - and even researched the thought to some extent. I even have some custom made tips that are close to stock, but a little different to work better with this plan.
I would still like to do this to my car - but it would take some major work.

The rocker panels are made into the underbody of the car, so in order to get the exhaust tips to sit up flush - you are going to have to provide a "channel" underneath the car for the tips and the exhaust pipes to run in (the pipes only for the last 6" or so).
This is going to take some pretty extensive work...more than I can do right now.
I want mine to sit totally flush. I plan on notching out around the tip in the rocker panel - so that it does look like a [Roush] car.

It will look good - but it does have one very big downside.
On our cars - the driver sits closer to that point than in a Mustang - so the noise level will be quite high (especially considering what kind of muffler you can run between an end tube and there).

No pics - I don't think it has ever been done to that extent. Someone may have some pics with just the stock tips mounted as side exit - but I have never even seen a 90° side exit on our cars - so a 90° side exit and a higher flush bottom mount is quite a feat. If someone does have it - I would almost be willing to bet that it wasn't flush at the bottom (unless of course they are using GFX).

I have mine exiting infront of the rear wheels and I think it looks decent how I have it setup currently, but am going to be adding better tips and it will look good, IMO.

Re: Anyone ever thought about this side exhuast set-up

I saw it on a fireird in a parking lot one day. He cut out square a few inches past the front wheel well and had 2 2in pipes sticking out each side. Then he cut matching holes in the squares he cut out, put some colored trim pieces around it and put it back in. I guess if you washed the car every day it would look pretty good, but there were carbon deposits all along the sides of the car.
