Anyone add a shacker hood to a 4th gen?
Well on my sisters Mach 1, and im sure most shaker hoods are the same, there is a hole in the hood big enough for a ram air scoop that is mounted to the motor so when you rev it up, the scoop shakes with the motor, makeing it a shaker.
Looks good on old school muscle cars but i personally dont think it would flow with 4th gen f-body's.
Here is a pic of her car. Mines faster btw.

They originated with the early (1970-1/2) Trans Am's.... the air intake/filter was bolted directly to the carb, and a rear facing scoop stuck up through the hood. So when the engine shook, the intake shook in the hood.
In theory, the rear facing opening in the shaker scoop is in the high pressure area at the base of the windshield (same reason for a "cowl" type hood), and boosts HP. There's a flapper door in the scoop opening that opens with a solenoid at high engine loads.

It would take a lot of ducting, sort of like a 4th Gen LT1 SS setup. Instead of the SS hood, you would have a hood with a hole in it, and the shaker scoop sitting on the airbox. It probably wouldn't be very efficient, suffering from the same issues the SS ducting suffers from.... I'd say its for "looks".
A couple years ago, someone did a "retro" 4th Gen T/A with a shaker hood and a rear spoiler similar to the one from the 70 T/A..... it looked pretty good, in white with blue stripes, like the original.
