I just got a black billet grille and I have a '69 Z/28 grille logo. The posts are too long because I guess the '69 grille was thicker. How can I reliably attach it?

Come on guys, I know I've seen pics of at least two Camaros with this done. How did you do it? Does anybody have any ideas (whether you've done it or not) on how to do it?

I dont have a 1st gen logo but i want to get them. Personally i would try to put it in the center. I also want to put them on the fenders and rear. Try to fabricate something or shave the peg or something. Sorry i dont have any helfull info for ya.

Ok, thx for responding. I've already put the side and back logos on but I was worried the adhesive might not stick to the grille even though it's very strong (because of the openings). I may just have to try it and see what happens.

The posts on the emblem are where you put clips right?
make a little "I" bracket with 2 holes and use the clipsto hold it on
or (I dunno if this would work or not ) Thread the posts... just brain storming a pic would help

I have a '69 style Z/28 emblem on my billet grille.
Here's a pic...

As you can see, I mounted it in the center. I just preferred the symmetrical look, but I think it'd look good off-center like the 1st Gens too.

However, I have since changed my mind and I'm going a different route for the grille shortly... in fact i'm taking the billet grille off the car permanently tonight.

Looks very nice! Ok, how did you mount it?

Actually that's very similar to how the 1st gen RS models did it.

You can fab a flat piece of metal and drill two holes for the posts, then use the nuts provided with the emblem to sandwich the grill between the "bracket" and the emblem. You'll probably want to paint the "bracket" to hide it. (The RS brackets were originally flat-black.)

Wow, that actually is a pretty good idea. I have some small sheets of aluminum sitting around. I could cut one for this and paint it black. Thanks guys. I'll try that tonight.

Might I also add, I voted offset, but after seeing Octane's pic I'm changing my vote.

That actually looks nice.

I'm currently working on the filled+ '69 Z/28 emblem tail panel for my '95. I still haven't figured whether or not I'm going to keep it or ebay it when I'm finished.

Ok, I did some of this last night. I forgot there was already an I- style bracket that was black. The problem is that the little "nuts" that slide up to a certain point on the posts of the logo wouldn't go up the posts far enough because I guess a 69's grille is thicker. I tried bending them out but they won't budge! Another problem was the logo was straight but the center of the grille is not (I decided to put it in the center). My wife tried bending it some and it broke in two. Actually, I think it was a good thing because if you put the two pieces right next to each other you can't tell and each piece is flush with the grille (after I used some flat black touch-up paint on the place where it broke). I drilled holes in the grille area of the bumper to make clearance from the posts and used the logo adhesive tape (really strong stuff) that I used on the other logos. The "Z/" doesn't stay very well though and you can really see the red of the grille area. I'm going to take the grille back off and spray paint the grille area flat black (kinda like I did my wheels) and I'm going to see if I can find some real clips in place of the "nuts" and I will try it all on Friday or Sunday (busy Saturday). I'll keep you guys posted.

Ooh, I just thought of an even better idea. I think I will get some black zip ties to hold the metal plate to the grille (on the posts).

You can sometimes find bubble packs of various sized trim "nutz" at the autoparts store. Just substitute a large size.
