Question To any1 that has a SunCoast Creations (SS) FUNCTIONAL Hood

Does it really work, I mean does it work better than the OEM hood that Chevy put on the SS? I'm just looking for a hood in that style that can get me some air without having to do a FTRA like system. Holla back!!

I have the Suncoast SS Hood. The ram air box works fine. I previously had a whisper lid with the holly power shot filter. I noticed a little increase when switching to the ram air box with the k & n filter.

I figured since I was installing a SS hood any way I should get one with true sealed ram air and not one that just blows air in front of the lid like the one SLP puts on the SS.

If you are getting a SS hood for the looks I would say go for it. If you are doing it for the hp, there are other ways to get more bang for your buck.

Good Luck!

Did your hoods require any body work or did they fit just right?

i have the suncoast ss hood and the fit and finish of it is "was" horrible!!!
if i was to buy another i would probably go with a true SLP/GM SS hood or a ascd hood!

i must be one of the few whos SSC hood fit good! mine was basically perfect. the only complaint i had was that two parts under the hood were jaggedy looking and didnt look finished. but my body shop dude took car of those! anyways mine fit perfect and no complaints here. lata

The place that put the hood on had to do a little extra work to make it look perfect, but it does. He wrote me a quote for the extra work and Suncoast credited my card for that amount. They had no problem making it right. My frend that owns the body shop said that all after market hoods need a little tweeking. He said compared to most of the other after market hoods he's worked with that he was pleased with this hood. He claims that the only way to avoid the tweeking of the hood is to order it from GM.

OMG so you actually got Suncoast to pay for the hood bodywork!? Is that thier policy, or did they just happen to feel unusually "nice" on the day you had a complaint? Because if they would pay for the bodywork I would certainly have no problem buying a hood from them. Either you took advantage of an offer nobody knows about, or youre a lucky lucky person.

Some of hoods will fit perfect and otherw will need work, there's no way to tell until you get it. Thats the way is is with all aftermarket fiberglass hoods though, however some manufacturers more than others.
