Any tips with por-15

Mine should be here any day now.....ordered all the prep stuff and the small cans.

This is my project http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=538664

I may also do a few other small things, just wondering if there is anything I should know. If I like it I may also do my cage in it.

Just clean it up and paint it on. Don't use your expensive brushes either, you might as well get some cheap-o brushes that you don't ever plan on using again. Don't leave the POR-15 open for extended periods of time either. It will harden up and be unusable. Of course, that's like any paint.

I poured mine into an old baby food glass container. I always thought it was so volatile it may eat through plastic.

Good stuff.

make sure that after you open it for the first time, you wipe off the bottom of the lid, all areas of it. I did not do that, and well, I had to basically cut the lid off and pour contents into a new can. Also, make sure you dont get any, none, nada into the groove the lid goes in.

Which did you get? if you got the semi-gloss, make sure you stir it up really well, like for 15 minutes or so. It will look all sweet and shiny wet when you put it on, but if you did not stir it enough, it dries all streaky

+ 1 on cleaning the lid. We had a little pint can and some of it got on the lid and we had to destroy the can and the lid to get it off the next time.

When you reseal the lid, follow the directions, and put a plastic baggy between the lid and can, or you will never get the lid off,. Wear some gloves, it will stay on your hands a looooong time.
I used a tupperware plastic container, and after it dried it peeled right off.
