hi all---

just got a 95 Z28 and i have a slight problem..i opened the hatch this morning and heard a loud POP up near the roof area where the glass meets the body..cracked the roof area pretty good....when i lowered it, i got he same result..now, i am afraid to open it for fear of doing more damage..it doesn't leak - yet...rained all day today and everything seems dry...

here are my questions--

(1) is it possibel to readjust the back glass (slide it down) to clear the roof???? the middle of the glass now sits about 1/4 inch higher than the rest of the car--i think that is what caused it to catch and crack the roof...i found the hinge bolts beneath the headliner--i am going to replace it this weekend so taking it off is no big deal..i am assuming the glass has those same bolts too..i can barely open the glass to reach them--is it necessary to open it all the way for adjustment????

(2) as far as the roof panel goes, is fiberglass hard to repair/sand down/make smooth again???if not will i have to replace the roof itself???

(3) how totally $@%ed am i???

i don't want it perfect--just functional will be fine for now..thanks for any help..sinjin 89..

 

yes you can adjust it. the fibre glass you should be able to patch up and be fine.

 

is it a t-top car ?
if so, i have a factory GM t-top rear fiberglass roof section that i am selling.
brand new, just needs to be painted and installed.
