Hey Mike,

I didn't say you did ...

I was just pointing out that there are American cars that came/come stock with billet aluminum fuel doors, such as the Bullitt Mustang (and I'm not trying to turn my car into a Mustang, either ). The door from the Mustang looks exactly like the Eclipse door. It just so happens that the *** door fits the curve of the Camaro to a T.

Another car is the Viper GTS. I think it's polished stainless on that one.

I also believe there were a few muscle cars from the late '60's that came with them, but the models elude me at the moment.

I'm not trying to change your opinion of whether you like it or not, I'm just letting you know where my inspiration came from (including from the few guys here who got them before me).

Peace, Brother!

E

I've never been flamed before so here we go. Who here has a 4th gen F-body and thinks its an American car? It's not. Don't get me wrong, I love my car. And I do mean "love". But I don't think it's an American car by any wild stretch of the imagination. Canadian maybe.

I don't care if a part is Japanese, American, or British. If I like it then I'll put it on my car. GM stopped being an American car company a long, long time ago. I prefer American parts because I live and work here and I believe in supporting our economy. But I fell in love with the 4th gen f-body and I had to have one. I didn't see any American product that was comparable, so I went ahead and bought it. If you want to support this country then go buy a Toyota! How many factories does GM have planned to open in the USA right now? How many does Toyota?

Flame suit on.

Hey, Ernster500, sorry to rant and rave in your thread. Believe it or not this is something that I've typed up probably 2 or 3 times in the past but then deleted. I can understand if somebody doesn't like something but this American vs. japanese part thing gets to be too much some times. Take it from someone who spent two years as a auto part salesperson, one year as a parts manager, and nine years as a tool and die maker for a company where the majority of the business has become automotive, some people would be surprised to know where most of the parts on their "American" cars come from.

Anyway back on the topic, IMO it looks good on your car. And thank you for posting the eBay link in this thread. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=105668

As far as I'm concerned, you and Bryan Smith rule.

Uhg...I didn't say that I didn't like it. Some part of me finds it appealing...I'm just battling my inner demons trying to reckon with putting other car's parts on another car. Shoot...I want some Y2k wheels, but I don't wanna seem to badge my car like a vette...go figure. ZR1's are ok because they were used (sort-of) for a few years on the SS. All of the reasoning behind that is , of course, all in my head. I'm a tormented soul. Maybe if I saw one painted the same color as the body, it wouldn't stick out so much for me and it'd pass my crazy mental inspection.

So...as far as the whole American vs. Japanese car argument...this wasn't an issue of Made in America verses import...at least not what I was talking about...Besides...seems like most japanese cars are made over here anymore anyways. And Canada...that's just America's largest northern state...so you can still call it Made in America!

(Ernster...show me that Viper fuel door and I may just become a convert...that car is my weakness!!! )

Damn! That is going to look sweet! I'm still holding out for MBA or SS Inserts to make a polished stainless steel 4th Gen Style Z28 emblem.

I finally saw an RK Sport Emblem. They don't look too bad. I just don't like the fact that they aren't in the 4th gen font. In the mean time, I'll keep my painted stock emblems...
