Listen to this... long story, so beware

about 3 1/2 years ago.... remember that length of time... thats a LONG time to be holding a grudge... right? well... 3 1/2 years ago, i was in my 72 nova, sittin at a stoplight, when a black LT1 z28 pulls up next to me... the car is black, with the same hood i have on mine now, a hi rise "performance" nascar style spoiler, and i believe a 5 speed.... it was a preppy lookin white dude driving... (im white, so no im not racist) we raced, i had an off center rear end yoke at the time, so i held a distance behind him of about 1 car length pretty much the whole way.... so basically, he smoked me... now... TONIGHT! im going to del taco for a burrito, and i get in the left hand turn lane, and some white newer style toyota comes smashin up from behind me.... they get on my right side, and there are about 5 people in the car, 1 of which is a guy i used to know from when i worked at auto zone, and one of the other guys... was the z28 dude.... without warning or instigation, he starts hollering out his window talkin sh*t to me, about how i must have put my hood on my car because i saw it on his....

now, right then im thinking..... "who the hell is this guy?" and when i figure it out.... my next thought is.... "THAT WAS HELLA !@#%ING LONG AGO!" i dont even know how he knew it was me, i FORGOT HE EVEN EXISTED BEFORE TONITE!!!! then he was starting to rant about if i was gonna put the same spoiler on my car as the one that was on his.... he was being a total *** about it... major attitude, but he wouldnt stick around to let me peel him out of the car and beat his ***.... and truthfully? now that i remember his car? hell yah! that IS the spoiler i had planned on getting! and for one reason... ITS THE ONLY ONE WORTH PUTTING ON!!!!!! i dont like the crazy, off the wall spoilers, with all the twists and dual deflector racks, with adjustable wind resistance, and the stock or RK sport spoilers are weak, and overdone... the ultra Z spoiler is a waste of money, the SS spoiler makes me a poser, and to leave the car with the hood on it and NO spoiler, is just cheap, and shows a lack of care for my work... as for the hood? i like it, i LOVE it in fact, but the only reason i even HAVE it is cuz a friend of mine sold it to me for $300.... with shipping and everything you are looking at over 600.... and the hood i got from him was still in the original postal packaging, with the bubble wrap taped to it... so i got a DAMN good deal on that.... and also, we come to the same problem with the hood as the spoiler.... the WS6 ram air hood doesnt look right on a camaro, cowls dont unless done right, SS hood makes me a poser... and to be honest? like i said, cowls look good when done right on these cars, i think of the big block hood as a cowl induction/SS hood mix, on steroids....

heres why i am posting this....... my dilemma is that i wanted to paint my car black, with white hockeysticks, but now i think that if i do my car the way i wanted to... which was the big block hood, nascar style spoiler, and RS ground effects, black and white.... (even though HIS was solid black) people will see my car as a shadow of someone elses work, the fact is, i know my car is matched somewhere else in the world, but to have 2 cars identical (or as close as this) in the same town, makes me a bit leary of wanting to continue my project.... i HATE conformity, and people trying to assimilate someone elses work... which is why i hate the red/black combination... its so "done"..... so is black and white... but not a camaro of my year, black with white hockeysticks... someone PLEASE ease my mind about this, or give me a suggestion as to how i can pull the look i want off without looking like puff daddy..... a guy who sits around and throws a little touch of his own creativity on someone elses hard earned masterpiece..... i cant take being a victim of the "you copied my idea" label....

should i go with my original idea, and just slap him with "i did what you SHOULD have done with it...."

or should i change my color scheme and think of a new spoiler?

in all honesty.... i had no intensions of copying that idea... but this thing popped up out of the blue, totally took a sh*t on my plan, and now im stuck with a problem i thought i would never have to face in any car i owned... un-originality!!!!

i hope someone here can understand why im pondering this so much....

 

Dude....who cares if your car looks EXACTLY the same as that a**hole's car. You can just say to him, "Well the difference is that my car is fast"

 

lol wish it were that simple, fact is? i think i would smoke him solid.... the nova was running like sh*t, and i still pulled on him... so my car? would probably peel his urethane off... but still.... i HATE looking at 2 cars almost identical.. but i want to hear feedback as to whether or not i should keep it... you think i should keep it? you dont think if someone had a car just like yours, and had it before you.... AND was talkin trash about it... you wouldnt do something to change it? im just so pissed right now.... my idea was going to be bad... i mean BADAZZ!! i was going to have reflective black decals done down the side... with "Snake Eater" in script... so you only see it at night, a glimpse of a phrase that dissipates as quickly as it forms.... i think that idea is just unreal... i aint seen that before... have you? but during the DAY its a whole other thing... the car will appear to be just black with white hockeysticks... reflective white hockeysticks someone tell me i can pull this off without looking like a damn jackass! lol

i would have just laughed at him and gave him the finger...

maybe could have said "if you want to be so original, then design your OWN ****!!!!!"

i did laugh, and i threw my hands up like "What? where you goin?" when he was leavin, nobody wanted to get out of the car, just some dipsh*t wanna be badass in the passenger seat, who i couldnt have given a sh*t less about, rolled his window down and said somethin, didnt hear what it was, but it probably could have cost him a sock in the face if i did hear it...

something inside me didnt like the idea, you know? but screw it, i guess i will keep my design, and carry a nice set of retractable batons in my car, next time he decides to get a big mouth with 5 other people in the car.... we will settle it the old fashioned way 1st one to the hospital gets his car trashed................
