Aerodynamics and spoilers?

This question has probably been aswered somewhere before, but I only found one thread that answered some questions.

I was wondering what kind of discruption an aftermarket spoiler like the LG motorsports ZR28 would cause during highway and street use. It's supposedly one of the few spoilers for camaro's that truely give downforce to the rear. What kind of difference in 1/4 miles times would a person experience between a stock LS1 and one with a ZR28 spoiler on it. Would it even be a noticeable difference? Anyone notice a difference at the track who has this type of spoiler?

Re: Aerodynamics and spoilers?

Spoilers slow you down in the 1/4 mile... They are made to put downforce on the rear...Great for road racing.... Unless your putting down mega horsepower, then you need downforce for traction...

Haha! Actually that was well put and straight to the point. Thanks! Do you think it would slow u down enough in the 1/4 to consider not getting one when the time comes, or just get it and who cares .

I dont own a LS1 yet so all this is just hypothetical, but thanks for all your help!

If you like it, then get it.

Most spoilers will not produce enough drag to affect your quarter times until you get into some heavy modification's with times pretty low.

In the 1/4 m. your not going fast enough long enough for the spoiler to have much effect.
