aero

i thought of something a little off the wall but it might spawn some thoughts in other peoples heads too.

anyways
it was brought to my attention that a few new troopers have motorized mirrors. you press a button inside the truck and the mirrors bend inward to fit the truck in small places offroad.

well one of the bottlenecks of the aero department in our vehicles is the mirrors. what if thier was a way to make or modify our mirrors to fold in at speed to lower the drag on our cars. i know i can find the motors for the mirrors in a junk yard somewhere around and it would be fun to try
just thought id say something

I really doubt that our mirrors cause that much drag...
seems kinda useless to me but my dad's truck has that though

The problem with the mirrors aerodynamically is that they are close to the body, the reasoning being that it makes a large wake of turbulent air that runs down the side of the car creating drag across the body, the solution would be to remove them, or to put them on stalks like the vette and alot of exotics have, it moves the bulk of the mirror away from the body, creting a smaller wake of turbulent air moving across the body.

Good thought though, I only wish it was that easy. LOL

Unless you are gonna take your camaro offroading like those trucks you are talking about, that idea seems pointless.
