To add metal flakes or not?
To add metal flakes or not?
Im not sure if I should add these red mettalic flakes in the clear which would be over the color candy apple red for my new paint job.
anyone think it might look to girly or just plain to flashy?
comments of any kind please
Thanks
Derek

No it doesnt look like met paint because the it is a layer of palin red then I have to mix the flakes with the clear coat and spray that over the red. It looks a little differnt. More sparkle to it.
anymore input?

It might look okay if it was actually mixed in with the red portion of the paint--but I think it would look a little funky in the clear portion. Just seems to me like it would start to take on a 3D effect--similar to those little clear rubber bouncy ***** with the glitter mixed in, that you get out of those quarter machines.
I'd like to see a pic before I give my opinion. I like things that are little different so I might like it. sounds like something that should go on the pink Barbie S2000 from the movie 2Fast 2Furious. Remember, it's your car so do what you like not what everyone else likes.
I tried mixing the flakes with the paint but the paint completly covers them so one could not see them at all. They are just a little bit bigger then regular mettalic flakes. Mixing them in with the clear looks just like those 25 cent glittery ***** at the super market. They have a tremendous sparkle to them in the light. Something that belongs on a barbied up s2000. Thanks for all your help im not going to go with flakes. Just this candy apple red which looks like blood red to me and a few coats of clear.
PS: I cant wait to see it done. I sanded the whole car with 1000 grit and sanded out every little chip. Its gonna be a perfect flat mirror shine.
