Total Spent without Hood and paint: $100.00

$180 Left and Right Fenders
$170 Front Bumper Cover
$350 Headlight Assemblies
$100 Front End Brackets
-------
$800

Sold Hood for $400
Sold Fenders and Bumper Cover $300

So only $100 so far, but I have to buy a hood and have it painted. Then again I have some left over parts to sell too, like old headlight assemblies and brackets.

sweet deal...were they all original GM parts or aftermarket??

I didnt have the luxury of selling my old parts as my car was stolen and wrecked. So I purchased the front bumper cover, both fenders both headlight/foglights new impact absorber, a whole new dash and airbags and front support bar w/ all the brackets for $1650 and that includes the price of shipping and it is all GM parts... the fenders were brand new from GM as well as the headlights/foglights...
I then purchased an original GM SS hood for $700 from a board member.
so my grand total came out to $2350...
tomorrow Im going to the junkyard to get rid of my 94 salad shooters and get some 5 spoke chrome rims off a 99 Z28...they are in perfect condition and want $300 plus my old salad shooters...
so now my price with new rims is going to be $2650
now I just have to worry about paint and Ill be back on the road in style!

Front end swap

Very helpful guys thanx. Man I love this site its so helpful! I havn't made the swap yet , but I want to as soon as I can afford the rest of the parts. I allready picked up The LT1 style SS hood at the swap meet, and a drivers side fender. I like the earlier SS hood its bigger in the back. I also like it because its flatter, and it doesn't have the creases for the head lights. I was at Carlisle checking out John Moss's ZL1, he made the swap and kept the older style flat hood, so it should work out O.K. It doesn't seem to interfere with the lights. It seems the lights will be the most expensive part of the swap. Well Thanx again, and good luck with your cars.

I don't understand the hood part you're talking about. You have to buy a 98+ hood. And if you want the old SS look, US Exoctics sells them. I got the hookup on headlight assemblies. $400 for both SHIPPED! That's the best price I found and it's damn good.

SS Hood

Why do I have to use the 98+ Hood. I do like WS6 hood though, it really looks good on the Camaros.

Well first off, you said you picked up the LT1 hood so I was assuming you were talking about a 93-97 hood, but maybe you was just talking about the US Exotic's 98+ LT1 style SS Hood. If so I gotcha then. I was just saying you have to buy a New hood to complete the swap...that's all.

Otherwise On!

Hood

No, it is actually an original SS hood. I like the old style better. Have you seen John Moss's ZL1?

I heard that me too. Back when the 4th gen first came out, all the press was saying how with the low hood line it was the end of the big block in the F- body. So John Moss took one and put in an aluminum Donovan block with 572 ci motor. The car is black with the scoop painted silver, it was the inspiration for the production 96 SS. Some time after the 98 upgrade, Moss also made the swap we are all discussing here. However he left the old hood, this is exactly what I want to do. I am looking at the pic right now, if I had a scanner I would put it up , but I don't. I think it is used in some ads Scoggin - Dickey maybe I can't remember. Someone else must have seen this car, this thing shakes the f-ing ground if you stand next to it. It is awsome to say the least.

which hood

I would go with the mecham 4 port extractor hood. It is sweet and you'll see it at mechamdesignperformance.com. It's about a grand but I've never seen it on any other camaro.
