98+ Fender vents on 93-97 TA?

Is is possible if you got a R and L side 98+ Firebird/TA front fender to cut off the bottom half of the fender above the vents and fab to some 93-97 Firebird/TA fenders? I think the vents would add a LOT more character to the LT1 TA's. I am not too familiar with plastic/fiberglass bodywork, but I would think that it could be possible to maybe plastic weld or use some other means to pull this off. Has anyone done this?

yes you can do it, and it has been done, it is however from the one expierence I read very difficult to pull off as the plastics for the fenders are different in material and thickness, the newer fenders are alot more rigid and brittle, but thicker as well.
he used an epoxy to eventually get the two pieces to stick and did get it to holdand it looked very nice, if you should try to do this post pics and let us know how your expierence goes

i was really wondering how you could do that a few months ago...i also think it would look really good. i was wondering if some how you could just cut the 98+ ones to fit? why cant they just make these like they make different hoods, and make it easy on us!?

Here's a link your looking for. It's a close freinds of mines car and If I'm not mistaken he's was the first person to complete the LS1/LT1 fender mix!

Enjoy!!

That looks good! How exactly did he do it/what did he use to do it?

Opinion - I think his car would look much better if he finished the TA conversion.

as I mentioned earlier he did it with some epoxy, he had alot of problems geting it to stick, and it was done about 2 years ago if I remember right. There are ALOT more pictures out there of it I just don't know where they are, I've seen a dozen or more.

The fenders for the 98 can't be cut to fit as they are dramatically different from the LT1 cars fenders.

The C5 vents might be able to be done tastefully, the biggest obstacle to it all is that our fenders in that area are dramatically shorter than the vette. You can buy just the C5 vents, but to make it look right one would have to build up the door area as well I would think

Why would you think He wants it to look like a T/A?? A formula with a T/A hatch looks sweet as hell!! Him and me both prefer the formula over the T/A with the exception of the wing....That should explain why he has JUST a wing.

Are you telling me that Curt did not do his own fenders?? I'm going to have to disagree since I know better. Better yet I'll call him tonight and make sure.
