98+ conversion costs

I was thinking about doing the 93-97 front end to 98+ conversion since Ill be needing a new front bumper for the car anyways. How much have you guys who have done the coversion paid for all the parts you needed? And can you do everything by yourself?

Check the sticky at the top of the page. That's a good tutorial of how you can do it yourself. You can most likely do it on your own as long as you know how to work your tools. On page 6, a guy said he got everything he needed for the conversion for 550 bucks. You may get away for cheaper or it could cost you a whole lot more depending on where you get your parts from. If you buy OE parts, expect to shell out a ton of money.

Exactly as mentioned above, try to find all of your parts used and it should be a very cost effective swap. If you buy everything brand new from the factory, you might as well just purchase an LS1 car! Check out the classifieds section on this site and ebay, there are plenty of people parting out cars.

I posted on the sticky with a link to my pictures of the process, its not too
hard to do, but then I have extensive experience from doing all sorts of car
related mods and repairs. The tutorial is pretty good, though I found a few
things that I clarified on. I paid 900 for the whole front clip, that included
shipping from northern California. So I paid roughly 550 for the parts. I agree
that getting used (from a rear-ended wreck) is the best way to go. There
is a difference in quality between the Chinese replacement and GM original.
