98-02 Camaro RK Sport Sway Bars & Poly Bushings
Re: 98-02 Camaro RK Sport Sway Bars & Poly Bushings
Yes, the stripes can affect the paint both positively and negatively. The stripes protect the paint to an extent. So if the rest of your car has 15 years of slow clear coat damage in the future, the paint underneath the stripes will usually remain in good condition. I've seen pictures of a Camaro that had stripes on it and when they removed the stripes the paint was nearly brand new underneath... EXCEPT... removing the stripes damaged their damaged clear coat paint further. It didn't really matter though, as they were going to repaint the car. It was kind of interesting though, because it almost looked like ghost stripes when they removed them.
The color shouldn't bleed into the paint though.
You're going to have a hard time finding the RS stripes probably. You might be stuck with 35th Anniversary style stripes, and for those you'd need an SS hood and spoiler. I've seen an aftermarket version of the 35th LE stripes for regular Camaros, but the design didn't look good. There's a lot of ugly stripe kits on the market.

I just looked at pics of your car again, and I'm not sure I'd mess with the suggestions I made. You've already spent some money on dressing up the grill and stripes with the Y3F might be overkill. The stripes you found on ebay look like an okay design though.
Also, (directed at somebody's post earlier--forgot who) I really don't see anything wrong with a V6 Camaro. Before I got my GXP, I really seriously considered getting a '96-'02 V6 Camaro as a daily driver. It's hard to beat those good looks (especially if you can find one with the Y87 option) combined with 29mpg! I average between 12.8 and 14.2 mpg in my GXP at each tank fill up, so I kind of wish I had gotten a V6 Camaro!

apart from the mileage, i see no downside to the z28/SS. Im 17, and my insurance went up $15/month when i traded in my old saturn. maybe my insurance company is just nice?

I added that site to my favorites, but i just dont dig the RS stripes, I like the 35th ann style a little better. just my opinion
Re: 98-02 Camaro RK Sport Sway Bars & Poly Bushings
Those look more like Dodge Viper GTS stripes. I haven't seen any aftermarket stripes matching the RS stripes perfectly, but then again, I don't exactly look very hard.

Re: 98-02 Camaro RK Sport Sway Bars & Poly Bushings
never said there was anything wrong with a v6 camaro I'm just saying be smart with the mods you do to it and make sure its worth it. I had a 85 camaro v6 and raced ppl like it was a v8 LOL I did things to make it look nice but no mods to try and make it fast or add HP
Re: 98-02 Camaro RK Sport Sway Bars & Poly Bushings
you can get those stripes stooped at the front bumper and in 35th style, you just have to ask for it in the options.
Re: 98-02 Camaro RK Sport Sway Bars & Poly Bushings
I just remembered something. RKsport makes stripes similar to RS ones. How did I forget that? They call them Big Attitude stripes.

They even installed them on an early 4th gen, which is kind of unusual. Different from the 30th anni ones.

RKsport used to have some sort of relationship with GM I think, or maybe it still does--I remember reading something about the '96 RS ground effects and RKsport in an old magazine from '95 or '96. They don't have a company history section or anything, but I bet you GM or SLP directly sold RKsport the plans for those stripes. They look identical to me.
