Digging up an old thread here....

Will the 93-96 wiring harness work on a 97+ car? I'm swapping tail lights with a friend, and want to make sure my 94 harness will work on his 99 car, or is there any additional wiring I will have to do to his car?

I believe the 97+ harness will work with the early tail lights.

Exclamation wiring 93-97 to blink like later models

i have a 94 z that i want to make work like the newer style lights but keeping the actual lights the same, in other words, the section below the reverse lights blink and the outer section for the brakes. anyone know how i can do this?

Kind of a waste of time to do that I would think... but if you really have to waste your time ... the best way to do it is probably buy a set of the new taillights, take the lenses off both the old and new set and swap them. Could work, could not. You'll probably just end up with a mess, and again, a waste of time

Here's a complete walk-through I created. Technically it's for the export tailights but it's the exact same thing.

Yeah I know, thread back from the dead.
I just completed this mod and found that the harness for the MY97 is different from the 98+
Now for those with a ˋ97
today i took the time to do the wiring so i have the taillamps, brake and turns on both dual filament bulbs on each side (with the mod the TO wrote, you will have the brake and turn separate, at least this was how it resulted on my 97)
1. you have to connect the light blue wire on the brakeswitch under the dash to the white wire (without connection) coming down the steering column. don’t cut anything! then you have the brakes at two bulbs each side, turn remains on the inner bulb only.
2. get a harness from a early fouth gen and install. this will result in taillights on all four bulbs.
3. connect a third wire from the inner bulb to the yellow on the left resp. green on the right. result is two brake/turn lights on each side and the tails on all for.
I looked up the diagramms on shoebox' site and saw that the Camaros had the wiring different from the Firebirds:

I like the solution from the Firebirds more and did it this way
The harness I used was from an '95 and had the oldstyle connectors for the bulbs. I took the extra way and got me the wedge style socket and soldered them in.
Also don’t forget to get another turnsignal flasher or it may not flash at all! I had a flasher from a Firebird laying around. This one works flawless
