95 Formula to 98+ T/A

I have a 1995 Pontiac Formula Firebird.

While I love my firebird, I love the look of the 98+ WS6 Trans AM. The high rear spoiler, the non-functional side scoops. Also in my opinion my 95' Formula looks dated.

I'd like to freshen up the car with a new look. While I understand an LT1 to LS1 conversion is frowned upon by some I don't think it is wrong.

Because technically they are both 4thgen f-bodies, its no more wrong than putting an aftermarket body kit.

That being said, I have a difficult time finding information on the swap. While I did find 98+ SS conversions, that seems less complicated than this.

Parts I would need.

Front side panels
Hood
Front bumper
Front head lights

Will everything bolt up accordingly? The body is essentially the same so I assume you can just plug and play. The only part of real concern is the head lights and the hood.

I am confident there won't be any issues with the side panels.
Are there any parts I am not taking into consideration?

I am less concerned with the rear end on my car. I still am not sure how the T/A spoiler would fit on there. It looks like the current spoiler is pretty much a necessary part of the car.

I believe that the rear fascia is the exact same between the LT1/LS1 Birds. I do think that you will run into problems with the front bumper support, possibly radiator clearance issues, possibly headlight wiring issues (due to the 98+ Firebird front fascia) if you go that route.

Also, if you are wanting to duplicate a Trans Am, don't forget the ground effects.
The high wing is what I want mostly, while the front end would be nice to do it is a bit expensive so I am going to wait on it.

The rear wing is the same on all years correct?

What all from the rear do I need to get the wing, do I need the whole rear hatch including the part that bolts up to the car?

As in, I don't need to take the glass and all that other stuff correct?

Has anyone tried to interchange LT-1 and LS-1 fenders yet? I parked my LT-1 firehawk next to a LS-1 T/A and When you look at the fenders they look amazingly alike.

Alright so the side panels definitely match up, now for the hard part the head lights, and the front bumper.

I know the back tails will fit people do that all the time, and the rear spoiler is also used in 95'.

Thanks for postin' those pics

The hatch from any 93-02 will work.

You do need quite a few more parts though for the front end. You would need the headlight bar thing, and the bumper support at very least.

Oh, and just so you don't get more confused, there are variations of the Trans Am spoiler, but I am not sure what models came with which.

There is one that has the TA spoiler molded to the hatch, like the firebird spoiler (basically non-removable), and then there is one that has the bolt on TA spoiler.
