93+ Z28...how do you know it's one?

Did all the 4th gen Z28 camaros come with the Z28 badge on the rear right of the car? I've seen some with it on the left rear quarter panel on the side. It's very easy to "hear" if it's a V8 but from a completely visual standpoint were the badges "standard" issue or an option?

Not counting the possibility of someone putting Z28 badges on to pass a V6 for a V*, did all the Z28's come with the badge on either the sides and/or rear bumper? The SS is pretty easy to spot with the hood.....just wondering....cause I see 4th gens all the time, and almost never see a Z28 badge anywhere on them...I don't always like to go by sound because if the driver lets off the gas and "coasts" by it won't make noise.

Well for what it's worth, I shaved my Z28 emblems, and I know alot of others that have too. So the main giveaway is the exhaust.

Yup... a Z28 badge on the rear, right below the right side tail light. Of course.. I have an SS and I don't have my SS badge there... previous owner shaved it off or it fell off.. either way I kinda want to get it back on the eventualy.

So many V6 F-bodys out there, a Trans Am/WS6 is very easy to spot, but when it comes to camaros that badge is the only way to tell alot of the time, I don't trust exhaust because lots of people get duel exhaust on, and a V6 can sound somewhat like a V8 idling with the right exhaust...

If its a t-top car I believe the Z's came witha black b pillar and the V6's are painted to match. I could be wrong not positive on that. Also the Z's definately came with emblems as everyone said. However there are people like me who shaved their emblems and painted their b pillar just to confuse you

Go

alot of times the condition of the car will give it away too.......i have seen many many v6 4th gens that are POS...very dirty, no mods, stock rims that are covered in brake dust. It just seems to me that the Z28 and SS owners take much better care of thier cars and are more likely to mod them. If the car has a single turn down exhaust out the back then its a dead giveaway that its a v6 also.

Oh........and i seen a camaro once with a single pipe after market exhaust with Z28 badging........me and my friend were trying to listen to the exhaust, but he ended up turning off before i could tell if it was a v6 with fake badging.

As far as I know, all Z28's, Hard top and T-top have the black rof or roof pillar. Not just T-top cars. Also at the owners request, alot of dealerships will remove the Z28 badges.

Depends on the year. 1993 and 1994 ALL Z28's came with black roof and black mirrors. V6's had body color tops and mirrors, unless the V6 had T-tops, in which case the roof was black. In 1995 (and later years) they made it possible to "match" the roof color to the body color, with RPO option D82 "Monochromatic Roof Paint". In 1995, that option was installed on 17,413 cars.
