'93-'97 Lighting Guide Site Launched!

You heard it here first folks - the 1993-1997 Camaro Lighting Guide site is officially launched today.

Please consider the following:
•The guide is just that, a guide. I do not take responsibility for you messing something up.

•This guide is meant to be a collaboration of all the information I can possibly get on 1993-1997 Camaro Lighting - so if you have something I need on there - please e-mail it to me, either through this message board, or by one of the many links provided on the site.

•You may want to use a pop-up blocker when visiting the site. It is hosted on the free webspace provided by .cz28.com, and it does have pop-up advertisements. For a free pop-up blocker, I would personally suggest getting the Google Toolbar.

•I am a draftsman/designer, not a site builder - so don't expect it to be the best site you have ever seen, but I expect it to be high quality none the less, so help me in anyway you can to support the enthusiasts of our cars.

•This site is still largely under construction - it has been for about 2 years now! I am an extremely busy person and just work on it in my free time, please understand that.

•ENJOY THE SITE!!!

Thumbs up

That is very cool.

Is there anything for '98 on up headlights or is there not much to report about it? I never looked into '98-'01s before.

Nice job!

I also have to say thanks for putting a SmoothLock banner on there!

Uhh...YEAH... You might want to fix that.

Although I am sure Brent wouldn't mind as much considering that the site is not out to scam anyone or sell items...but you should change that ASAP!

Still, it is never a good idea to hotlink images.

It is fixed now...I did that a while back, just for a quick link, and I meant to go and get it and upload the pic, and link it, etc. etc...just never did. Thanks for the note. If you find anything else on there like that - just e-mail me please and let me know.

Jason - there isn't anything on there yet for the 98-02's, that's why I avoided calling the it the 4th Gen Lighting Guide. 98-02's have more professional options - you can just change the bulbs for one. The Smoothlock banner is not hotlinked BTW - it is part of that site.

Done that myself!

But are there bulb options? I know that if I ever go to change the bulbs (which I probably will one day), I would want to look around for the best one, etc. One place to glance at would be handy.

Heheh...I didn't even think to check...bu thanks!

There are different bulb options - and there are other options too...and I do plan on eventually getting some of that info up - its just not as needed nor requested as the '93-'97 stuff is.

Honestly, just out of my strait opinion, and knowing how you don't like modifications that require you to change a whole lot of stuff on your car, I would just stick some Silverstars in your car and call it a day. They are the same wattage as stock, so nothing to worry about there - they are very high quality, not some cheap eBay knock off, they have a great color, and they are readily available at the parts store. Just something to consider when you go to get some. I have actually considered putting Silverstar H7's in my Hella FF75's, but they might be a little dim.

I should say though - mainly what a '98-'02 person is looking for in their best interest would be 9006 bulbs for their lows, and 9005 bulbs for their highs.

Awesome job!

Looks great!

While it is bad practice to hotlink images, this was way different than what that eBay guy did I wouldn't have cared at if one of YOU guys here do it for something like this... the eBay thing was way different

However, with that being said, 94BlackBowtie, if you end up having trouble with keeping the site up all day or all month or whatever because of the amount of bandwidth it is using, get with me. I'll upload all the images and you can hotlink all of them off my site. That should prevent your site from going down due to exceeding the bandwidth limitations (if you do run into that problem)

Oh, one other thing, on the 90mm Hella page you have a thread here linked. That's cool but keep in mind that sometimes Jason will prune threads. If that thread gets too old, it is gone forever. So, it'll be good to either a) copy that url and contents to your server or b) go into that thread every month or so and do a "TTT" to keep it so it doesn't get too old and run the risk of being pruned to web heaven

I haven't read the entire thing yet but am looking forward to it!

Thank You! I am glad to recieve your praise, I think you are considered by many to be one of the godfather's of the F-Body community.

Thanks! I have a backup plan as well if that were to happen...it would just be a pain to have to go and re-edit everything. I thought about doing that in the first hand (with an unlimited bandwidth site of mine), but hopefully this will be ok - its nice to have all the pictures right there in one spot on the same site.

Good thinking! That thread is kind of vital to the Hella 90mm install, so I think I will do both of the suggested. Maybe even put a note to the board's housekeeper in it, begging for it to stay forever.

Godfather!?!? hahaha I have just been around a long time doing this so a few might have heard about me One of the funniest related stories is a guy who went into a bud's shop. My bud had a picture of my car on his wall. The guy was like "Hey, that's Brent Franker's car." My bud was like, "Yep." The guy then asked "Do you know him?". My buddy looked at him funny and said, "Yeah, we are good friends." He was like "Really???". My bud was like "Yeah, we hang out all the time." The guys was like "Huh?" and my bud looked at him and said something like "You do know he lives here in Inverness, don't you?" and the guy was like "WHAT?!?!". hahahahaha I don't remember the exact details of the conversation but it was something like that Yeah, in my little old town of Inverness somebody knew me from the Internet but had no clue that I lived probably a mile away from him. LOL! Anyways, I digress

For the images, if you need anything, just let me know!

Also, don't bother sticking anything in that thread. Pruning is done automatically by date... if older than x date, bye bye

94BlackBowtie, you know, for not being a web designer like you said, that page turned out pretty damn good. I like the setup, very easy to use, and you know, simple. Doesn't need to be fancy, just needs to get the information that you want, out there for the rest of us.

Along with Brent Franker, Pu12en12g Archie with the white Z28, and a few others I can't think of, you guys pretty much run the appearance forum.

I wish you the best of luck with your site.
Thank you very much - I really appreciate the compliments. I hope I can turn the site into something amazing, that really does tell all the information people need for lighting and their 4th Gen F-Body. It seems to be one of the most talked about topics outside of appearance questions, which we have Brent's and David's sites for. And for those wild and hard to find appearance ?'s - pu12en12g usually has those. Heck, I even have an F-Body picture site as well.

But hopefully I can get this site to where it explains all about lighting and F-Bodies...I suppose by the time I am done, I will have to upload it to a different webspace, because the space there is somewhat limited in what I can do.
