93-96 tape deck delete?

Is there anything to make use of that stupid tape holder forward of the shifter on the center console? I want to put in a switch for an electric cutout and a trans temp gauge in there.

Autometer used to make a custom gauge pod cover for that area. But they no longer make them. Once in a great while you can find them on this site for sale or up on ebay. Or you can even custom make your own cover. But yeah they do sell a cover for that area -which you can put gauges or switches in place.- The only problem is trying to find one for sale and for a reasonable price. I sold mine a while back ago.

Not a tape deck, but the tape storage compartment underneath the radio area. Basically, its only function was to throw the stuff you put in there at you as soon as you got on it.

I always wanted a little fold down door right there that snaps into place like the one on my Corolla. Everything tends to slide right out of that compartment on the '95.

My '94 has it done. Its basically a big panel that was painted orange.. it really wasn't done well, though. Some of the tabs are broken off so its pretty loose. I'm thinking about fixing it and putting some gauges/switches in there.

I've been trying to figure out how to do that, myself. I was thinking about using magnets to hold it closed. Maybe this spring/summer when I get back from college I can fab one up. My family's boat's tape deck used to have a sliding door that could hide away in the top, so I'm thinking it won't be hard replicating that
