6 inch cowl

Ive been looking for a new hood for awhile now. Ive finally decided to go with a cowl hood. I want one that stands out, that will set my car apart from the rest of the traffic on the road. The lt's and cutout already set me out, but I want to be seen, since im already heard.

Ive only found 4inch cowl hoods as the biggest for my 99. I could get a 6 inch cowl and rivet it to my exsisting hood and mold it so it looks like it should be there.

My question is, is a 6 inch cowl to big for everyday use? I know a 4 inch will be fine, and if anyone knows of where i can find a 6 inch cowl hood?, or if they even make them?, I cant seem to find any for my car.

thanks.

Well, unless you enjoy not being able to see anything in front of you... yes. Car buffs are going to be sorely disappointed when you open up your GIANT cowl hood to find !GASP! a near stock LS1.

Just my opinion though. I would stick to a 2" rise only if you're just trying to achieve looks.

Have you looked at the VFN Sunoco hood? It's about 3" high, and flows with the bodylines really good. 6" is way too big for a street car, and you don't seem to have anything that would warrant a cowl that high.

Unless you've got some monstrous supercharger and a high rise intake (which I'm pretty sure your LS-1 doesn't have ) I can see no need for a 6 inch cowl. Most cars I've seen with 4 inch cowls looks pretty ghastly unless they've got ground effects and either a lip or SS spoiler. I can only imagine a 6 inch cowl would make your car look like crap. A 2.5 inch cowl will get you enough attention without getting yourself laughed at. I know I'd laugh if I saw a 6 inch cowl hood on nearly any car.

Jesus - you ever been in a car with a 4"?

6" would be rediculous- and completel unnecessary.
