I've heard of people switching out the taillights of the 93-96 Camaros for the 97-02 lights. But I haven't heard anyone switching them the other way. I don't like the amber lens on the light as much as the all red. My question is has anyone done it? I'm just wondering if there is some significant problem that would make it not worth doing. Any help would be great thanks.

 

Actually, there are quite a few people switching to the older lenses from the newer ones, just not as many on this board.

As far as switching them, take the old ones out, put the new ones in. The only reason any wiring had to be done for the swap from the LT1 style to LS1 style is the fact that the whole light is used for brake lights and turn signals on the LT1's, so the amber would light up when applying the brakes. You don't have to worry about that, so you can just switch housings and you'll be good to go.

And as far as reasons not to do it, I can't think of any. I personally find the LT1 style far better looking than the LS1 style, although, as you may have noticed, many do not.

So I say go for it .
