If you are only going to replace one, I'm afraid I'm going to have to recommend you go right to the dealer to get it. Don't go to YOUR dealer though because they are very expensive. Check out one of these guys...

Dal Slabaugh: 1-800-362-9494 ext 501, lockitup@bright.net , VanDevere Buick/Pontiac/Olds , Akron, OH

Jason Cromer: 1-877-726-8295 gmparts@samtaylor.com , Sam Taylor Buick/Cadillac , Ft. Walton Beach, FL

I don't know of any aftermarket places that make EXACT duplicates and that is why IMO you'll need a genuine GM replacement.

Actually, I think you are going to find that you will need to replace both of them because your entire hood will most likely need to be repainted or at least spot painted then the entire hood cleared. At least that is what I would probably recommend with my limited painting knowledge If you are REALLY tight for money and you are going to end up replacing both stripes then you *might* be able to get by with something from www.3rdgendecals.com However, since you have a real 35th car, I'd recommend spending the extra bucks and going genuine GM on both stripes and a complete hood repaint. Sucks, yes.

due to the keying of my hood all 3 decals on the hood need to be replaced and the place where i got the estimate done would be getting the gm replacements

im reguards to you mentioning 3rdgendecals it disgusts me (being a true 35th owner) that they supply the heritage decals so now anybody can turn their red ss into a 35th aniv replica you can even buy the side badges on e-bay now im still waiting to see the rims and seats appear for sale oh well

however the different colored ones do turn an otherwise ordinary ss into more of an eye catcher i have seen a black ss with an orange kit that looked nice

That's cool that your insurance company is going to take care of things for you and replace them all.

As for the SS stuff being placed on a non SS... I'm an SS owner as well and to me it doesn't really matter. I only raise an eyebrow if somebody sticks the badges on because IMO that is going a little too far... and that has nothing to do with me being an SS owner because I'd say the same thing if I didn't have one. All the other SS stuff is just appearance mods in my book. You probably wouldn't like what I did with my SS then... put 35th stripes on a 96. LOL! http://www.3rdgendecals.com/Brent.htm

what you did to your ss was fine imo but if you had a red ss and put the same stripes that came on te 35th then i would be upset

i think that a white ss with black heritage stripes would probly look pretty good

i just dont want people copying the true 35th image (red with the silver )
