215 tire on an 8" rim?

Can anyone tell me if a 215/60-16 tire is to narrow to put on an 8" rim?

Thanks

Depends on the brand of tires.

I got a 215/60 on the stock Z28 rim, it fits ok, it looks a little weird, but its ok, cuz its my snow tires. So, it should fit.

Yea that's whats on my sons car. I was looking at some Firebird rims. They have 245/50-16 tires that are shot. The tires (215/60-16) that he has on his steelies have allot of meat left and I would like to put them on the 5-spoke Firebird rims. I am afraid that the 8" rims may be too wide for the 215/60-16's.

Ditto. I've got 215/60/16 snow tires on a set of '95 "salad shooters" and they seem to fit fine. Please no flames 'cause I'm driving my Z in the snow though.
