1998 Camaro (headlights)
1998 Camaro (headlights)
I just bought a 1998 camaro, navy blue, and the stock headlights are FILTHY.
yellow, crusty, cloudy, etc. they look hideous. I tried cleaning them with meguiars clear plastic cleaner/polisher, applied with a small cotton pad and repeated the instructions on the bottles, did it around 4-5 times, still crusty, and dirty, I scrubbed extremely hard too, they got cleaner, and lost the yellow haze, but are still ugly looking.
I asked a GM dealer how much new ones would cost, he said $240/per side.
and thats kind of.. expensive.. anyone know of some way I can clean them, or get aftermarket ones that look like the originals?
anyone else having/had problems like this? btw I just bought this car a few days ago thinking I could clean these, but apparently I cant, heh.

Re: 1998 Camaro (headlights)
a search would have yielded many things on that...
i did mine with just straight 1000 grit paper. i have the polish stuff but have yet to do it.
before
after
while you're doing it you should remove your headlights and do the "whistler headlight mod"
paint the inside of the housing

i tried searching, but with the way this filter is setup you cant search for 2 words, only this OR that, and sorting through 300+ threads with the name headlight, takes a long time. so I looked elesewhere

Re: 1998 Camaro (headlights)
yea, thanks for all the info, got some 1000 grit, 1500 grit, and that cleaned it up ALOT, they look great now 50 times better than they looked when I bought it. not perfect, but hey I just saved myself ~$500.
