Re: 1997 to 1998 Bright Purple Metallic Camaro, RS, Z28

They guy I got it from, abused it and had no idea what he had, the wing is just hanging there the truck lid is faded the rocker panels and beat to crap and even the nose, also looks like he had a fuel spill down the side of the cap that ate the paint. Then the interior is covered in dog hair and food. Nothing that canít be fixed I just canít believe people can be so rough.
should I fix the rod knock in this block or should I put another motor in? Would it drop the value? If I were to fix it I figured a small can with a 3000 stall torque converter.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. Technically, you already have an aftermarket body kit on the car, so you already detract from the purest that would be looking for a numbers matching block. If there is a knock, I wouldn't really drive it, so at that point I would pull what you have an investigate how bad the issue is. There is a great chance that the block can be machined and have no adverse effects from where it was.

Redbeard2,

Good on you for taking on the restoration. I hope the motor work comes out well so you can enjoy the car!

Hi everyone, I joined this site to post some info about my bright purple metallic Z28. I purchased it last summer from the original owner. Originally from Florida and it has hardly been driven in the past 10 years. I had no idea it was so rare until after I bought it and started to research it more. It is currently sitting at 122,000 miles.

Thanks! Yes, it originally came with the 5-spoke alloy wheels, but the previous owner purchased these sometime in the late 90s or early 2000s. They were surprisingly expensive according to the invoice. I thought about replacing them with the OEM ones that came with it, but I ended up liking these better.
