Hey, I just ordered a new shift **** for my car and I have no idea how to remove the one that's currently on the car, please help!

 

There should be a "staple" in the backside of the ****. Shift into first and look behind the **** and you can see it. Pry that out with a flat-head screwdriver and then pull straight up on the **** and it should come off. It takes some muscle so be careful not to smack yourself in the forehead when it gives...

 

hey guys I also have a 96 Z28, and my auto shift **** pulls all the way off It's in perfect condition so no need to replace it. Any ideas for keeping it on?
