18 x 8.5 rim question

I have a 98 Camaro and might have an opportunity to purchase 18 x 8.5 rims.

I'm not sure if the 8.5 means the width of the rim.

Could someone please let me know what it means and also if it is a good size for my car and if there are any advantages or disadvantages to this size.

All info would be appreciated

Thanks

Pure

Pure,

Yes, the 8.5 is indicating the rim width, eight and a half inches. Any 18" wheels are good additions! You will not have any problems with your fenders either if all four are 8.5. That is the standard width for 18" rims on our cars. As far as performance I've heard things such as minimally slower times off the line, but your handling should improve, especially if you drop your car a little too. Good luck and post pics if you get 'em!
