What's the most I could stroke a small block?

Check this month's "Hot Rod"(Dec '03). I'll forgive them all thier recent wheeny Honda articles just for their latest big-inch small-block buildup. Howw does 582 lbs/ft from 450 cubes grab ya? Got your attention, huh? Add in the low compression (9.3:1) and mid-strength cam (800 rpm idle) and the fact it made the numbers on 87-octane, and this would be a wicked motor for a daily-driver. I like the fact that they chose a Dart block, which IMHO is a better design than the WP block, but there are some compromises. The tall-deck would make it a more difficult install in a third or fourth gen f-bod, and the raised cam is going to need specialized (read: expensive) valvetrain parts. Still, when your throwin' down 1.5K for a Lunati crank, you can prolly afford custom-length pushrods.

I read that, and it's one sweet engine. Didn't it make over 500 tq at 2000 rpm? Too bad it would be so expensive. I wouldn't put it in a 4th gen, but something like that could be a lot of fun in a 3rd gen. Talk about stealth.
