What Tranny?
Hey guys, I'm new to this board. I lurk out at Thirdgen.org and though you guys might be able to help me with a small dilema.
I have an '88 F-body with a 355, Victor Jr converted to multi-point, DFI gen VII, AFR 195's, etc, etc. Right now its got a 700R4 (slip-o-matic) and its barely holding up to the current combo. I'm in the process of gathering the parts for my twin turbo project (PT-51's). When I'm done there is no way the current AOD is going to hold up. I'm estimating 750 rwhp.
A non-OD tranny is not an option as I live in Germany and I don't want to sacrifice rpms at the 100mph + highway cruise speeds over here. At this point I think I'd rather swap to a manual but what one? The car is never going to see slicks and 5000 rpm drag strip launches. Ideally I'd go for a 6-speed.
Will a T-56 hold up? A TKO? Any other ideas?
