What are the do's and don'ts when attempting valvespring replacements

With a pin clip.. I clipped the purple wire going from the big bunch of cables on the passanger side...and ground... That is the starter cable... I used a manual starter to crank the engine (no ignition) so lifter would charge with oil... then I adjust to zero lash, just when the rocker has no play with the pushrod... then 1/4 turn and that is it...


But a good practice is to turn the engine because lifters will charge and the height will change... has worked wonderfully for me

I didn't realize there was reason behind turning the motor over by hand. I just bumped the starter til the valve started to open. Does this mean I should go back and do them all over again?
