Post What about the 7.4......

Will the 7.4 out of the hd trucks work in a f-body? Isn't it just a larger lt1? Will afr heads work on it? Was wondering bcuz if it could fit it would be interesting in a camaro of corvette. I know there was an aritcal in one of the corvette mags about someone who put the 8.1 in a corvette.

Thanks

7.4=big block.

Will take a ton of work to get it in the car. you can get afr heads for a big block but it will take some work to get everything in there.

Exactly which 7.4 engine?

Will it "work" in which F-Body...1st Gen, 4th Gen???????

There is no such thing as "a larger lt1".

You know in the new hd pickups and suburbans that they have either the desiel or the 8.1 for the engine options? From 94-98, I think, they had the desiel and the 7.4 option for engines. I was wondering if that 7.4 would fit in the 4th gen f-bodies. I know that in one of the corvette mags someone put the new 8.1 out of the trucks into his vette so I was thinking if he could do that I was wondering about this.

No hammer needed if you have a sawzall and a welder though

You can get a engine bay 4 inches roughly wider with some work....

Waiting on that mod though till i see if we need a few more inches for the turbo headers though

big block has been done and can be done though

7.4 = 454 BBC. It fits not to bad into a third gen. It's a real squeeze to fit it into a fourth gen since the engine sits back so much further. I wouldn't want to try changing plugs on it once it's in.
