i have a 1991 camaro and i am replacing the stock heads and manifold with vortec heads and a vortec manifold


the heads are good up to .475 lift but am putting new comp springs that will hold up to .575 lift

and i was going to replace the stock cam with a comp XE 282 roller cam

but i am not sure if my 305 tbi will be able to handle it?

i also know that if i do this i will need to reprogram my ECM correct?

 

what is the bore on a stock 305?

yup, but you might want to have them milled a bit to get some compression back.

You might consider the L30 heads. The L30 was the Vortec 305

 

when you say milled what do you mean by that

 

Milling is removing material from the base of the cylinder head to create a good surface for gasket sealing (not warped) and as already stated to lower compression.
