Valve seals on a 1993 - 1994 lt1

Heres my situation...
My origonal engine that was in my car is experiencing pretty bad blow-by, and the crank is damaged due to the crank hub. I picked up a new engine and planned on swapping the valve train over. My origonal engine was a 94, and my new engine is a 93. I am running a comp cams 224/230, with 1.6 RR, with comp cams 986 dual valve srpings.

When i went to put my old valves (the 986's) on the new engine, i ran into a problem. The inner spring on the 986 will not fit! I am not exactly sure what it is hitting, but i am assuming it is the valve seal. It is resting on the highest point of the valve assembly (but not the valve stem).

I Was just looking in my haynes manual and noticed there are two types of valve seals. There is the o ring type and the umbrella type. The o ring type actualy looks like it has a larger diameter base on it. (this would be the valve guide i guess?) Can this be my problem?

What do i do to solve this problem?
