Vacuum Pump

Is there any benefit to using a vacuum pump setup on a motor using standard tension rings? Or they used more for setups using low tension rings?

Currently looking at the pumps by Moroso and GPZ(?). May considering going this route after my new top end is on the motor. Pretty much a strip only combination that will see little if any street time.

Yeah it will help with windage... the new edition of the Engine Masters magazine has a good test on Vacuum pumps in it, you see more advantage with lower tension rings.

Re: Vacuum Pump

Yeah....

Has three different motors tested with vacuum pumps and traditional rings.

BTW you can always play with the oil ring expanders and a fish scale to loosen up the ring tension on the oils on your current setup if you add a vacuum pump and find more power.

Re: Vacuum Pump

About the magazine, you will probably have to call them for a subscription. I had to do that when I subscribed to Super Rod.

Ya won't see much gain on the street, but ya will see accelerated wear from the fact that it takes away most of the splash oiling.

A standard set of rings don't need a pump and most recommend ya don't run one on the street.
