I bet the exhaust note this thing's gonna put out will sound better than Angelina Jolie having an orgasm in the middle of Beethoven's 5th.

Think there's any possibility of getting some sound clips up once it's running?

How much did that cost? I can't find prices on their website?

Those heads are amazing!

Guys, where have you been? TBS and UB are (in)famous in the LT1 on-line community for trying to make these heads work. They have been in never-never land 1/2 way between reality and vaporware for years. If you do a search, you can follow the epic saga as it happened. This has been a long time coming, and if it works as hoped I bet TBS' motor won't be the last LT1 to be running these heads. I gave the whole matter some thought myself, but I lacked the pioneering spirit, time, and the $$$ that these guys have committed. So, I am more than a little curious and am rooting for good numbers from the combo.

Good luck, and thanks for the update.

Rich

Thanks Taner, your motor has been good to you for sure. I hope this one stays together as long as yours so I can continue on with phase II

Although it doesn't seem that way, but alot of the parts used aren't anything elaborate or special except for the headgaskets. Fortunately a quick google search landed me a place in Texas that has been around for over 20 years doing just that so now I know where to go for the next set if/when necessary and it only took a few days. The intake is an off the shelf piece that needed some tender loving care and the headers were custom made using the chevy Stahl pattern like any head that needs alot of exhaust and UB helped me out there Other than that nothing else is used. I chose to do some different things on the motor so thats why it looks the way it does cause originally an LT1 intake with a monoblade was going to be sitting on the motor.

Thanks for the kind words! I don't have a part number on that pan. That pan has been on a couple different motors and it's been damn good to me, thats for sure. Easiest thing to do would be to call up Stef's and just tell them what you want. Everything is custom fabricated anyway so you'll get exactly what you want and how you want it when you order. I spent over an hour on the phone with them (just bs'ing) a couple weeks ago cause I lost the pan bolts and I respect Stef's more now than ever. Very cool guys and a solid operation with well built materials coming out of there (I've actually jacked my motor up using the pan).

It's kind of interesting you bring that up. The manf. of the heads as well as the previous owner of UB's heads said the exhaust note that comes out of these heads is nothing they have ever heard before and it was pure ecstasy. What's funny is they both said that numerous times during the conversations I've had with them so I'm anxious to hear myself. Don't worry about sound clips, there will be videos as well

If you go to the website the head prices are right there on the left hand side menu.

Thanks Rich, all I hope is that it stays together. I'll continue the updates from this point (finally have a reason to be excited) and I'll have more pics once the lifters are in.

Re: UB...we're one step closer to dominance...

Oh lol I am blind

Wow they're expensive, but not as much as I thought they would be, I'd say $10k is reasonable for something like that.

It would be pretty crazy to whoop *** on 03/04 Cobras with a NATURALLY ASPIRATED F body

I know you said they used to have LT1 heads like this, I'm guessing that's a special order item and you'd have to call/email to get info on them?

What did the custom headers run you?

From what I can tell all the heads are a special order from what people have told me when they called. But yeah, you will definitely have to call.

I got the headers used but you can normally figure on around at least 1500 for a GOOD set of custom headers (tig welded).

I expect for hell to freeze over the second your motor fires up.

It's been a long time in the works.
