Post T-56 gears

I have in my possession a '93 T56 and a '96 T56. I know the gear ratios are different but is there anyway to take the 5&6 out of the '96 and put them in the '93 trany. That would be the best of both worlds low 1 2 3 and high 5 and 6. I'm not sure how the 5&6 gears are messed with the rest.

yes you can interchange the gears. you can also have custom gears grinded to what you want.

Yep, you should be able to interchange the 5-6 gears - they're seperate from the 1-4 stack.

I'm not sure what you're running for a motor or rear-end gears, but keep in mind that 6th is pretty high. My engine doesn't like to be lugged below 1700 RPM, so I don't even think about using it below 75 MPH.

For now I'm pretty much stock. I do have a CC 305 and some more bolt on stuff but I can drive in 6th(96) at about 1300RPM and I do not have trouble. I would like to go to a bigger cam and a good set of heads when I get my money right. I think I'll just stick with the complete '93 tranny for now. I also have a different rearend 3.23 gears. I found a calc. which says at 2K with the '93 tranny I will be running about 75MPH. Now with the '96 tranny I'll be just over 90MPH @ 2K.
I can get in alot of trouble at that speed.

Yup, thats exactly what I run with my 93 tranny/3.23's.

Have you considered 6th gear out of a Z06? Its a .56 I believe, right between the 93 and 94+.
