suggestions/opinions on 383 build for boost
thanks for the input guys. Ill call callies this week and get a price. For what I see people doing with scat components I figured I could get away with the crank and rods and save a little, but Ill definitely call callies first and see because if its only a few hundred Id rather have the peace of mind of callies machine work and balancing in the bottom end of something Im going to push to the max. I know,.......cheap and forced induction dont go together, but im just trying to stick to a tight budget.
If your truely curious about the SRP's, i'll send you 2 of my broken -31cc ones that just got replaced with a set of JE -31cc extreme dutys. I'm on an Eagle assembly, 5.7 H-beams and ported LT1 heads. The SRP's let go in the setup i was running during my dyno vid in my sig. Broken lands. That was on 14psi and a 150 shot. If your planning close to 20 in the future with the spray also, those SRP's would get demolished. I don't believe they recommend past just 15psi alone on a good tune anyway. One very important thing to remember if your gonna build for this future setup is your ring gaps. You'll probably want to go with what ever the piston manufacture recommends for a "race" application for boost or n2o. Your ring gaps will probably need to be .027+ vs the lower .020's. I believe i made mine .027/.029 but i think others on the board here even run them wider. Your better to side on the looser side vs too tight. Heat = expansion and at 20psi, you'll be making a lot of it, which also means you'll need a lot of water/meth if your not gonna run an intercooler.
