sbc motor in 94 TA

Will a 400 sbc bolt up in my 94 6 speed TA? What modifications will be needed if not? Also ive looked at lt1intake.com and was wondering if anyone has put the intake on a sbc 400 and what kind of power would the engine produce with it. They also mentioned changing the computer on another thread to do away with all the OBD stuff. Would I need to do this in the swap?

It will fit, I put a carberated 426 sbc in my 99. It was a pain but it would be
easier now that I have done it and know what will work and what will not. If you
get serious PM me and I will email you all my research and what I bought and had to do.

I agree if I had to do it again, I could do it in 1/4 of the time it took the first time.

I put a 358ci SBC in my 97 SS and it was a pain at first, but if I ever built another 4th gen thats the only way I'd go.

Sounds like an idea but don't put the LT1 intake on it. You have good cheap heads to choose from might as well put a good intake on it too.

Re: sbc motor in 94 TA

I'm a guy who doesn't necessarily agree with swapping in regular sbc's into lt1 and ls1 cars. lt1s and ls1 are very superior in small block design. not really sure why you'd want to take that away. that is unless you do have one hell of big cube block sbc with some killer power, but other than that i don't see the point. if you want to go carb, you can keep the lt1 and threw a carb manifold on it. ls1's now have a carb manifold too. This is definately my opinion mixed with general facts, and i am definately not the smartest guy in the world, but i don't see the point unless you've got a competition big cube small block in the mix. if you are really interested, i might be able to let you get ahold of a guy i know.

Im doing the same thing and the reason is im building a 420 ci stroker. Trying to make big power with LT1 heads, intake and opti is very dificult and expensive,Not to mention the extra investment in a capeable aftermarket engine managment system.Im looking for 1000 hp with a 300-400 shot and just dont see it hapening with a LT1 motor.

Why would you want to change LT1 heads over to SBC heads?????

Guys really if you are building a SBC STICK WITH SBC PARTS!!!! There are more of them and they are cheaper, especially when it comes to heads and intake manifolds!

I think you read to fast. I believe he is inferring that he is NOT using these components.

Yes,I am NOT using LT1 parts at all! Im going with a set of exstensivly ported Edelbrock e-tech 200's with a 2.05 intake flowing over 300cfm@.600lift.I was only trying to point out that making big power with LT1 heads and its restrictive intake is very hard,im running a fully ported super victor with a holly dominator.
