Which rod
Which rod
Ok im lookin for a 5.850 rod that will handle 1400 hp with sufficent cam clearences on a 396 i was looking at the eagle long stroke clearence rods desinded for storkers any other suggestions on roods that might be a better choice or will these do im looking for a car with 800 rwhp through a th400
I was just using that as an example because with the apr 2000 bolts that what the egale rods are rated at oliver and crower rods seem to be common too i was just looking for a good rod to go with the stroke and i havent found a oliver 5.850 rod either does crower make one

Both Oliver and Carrillo list a 5.850" Billet rod. You could also call Cunningham Rods (310)538-0605 who I use for custom stuff. The Olivers are $1300, Carrillo's are $1600.
DO NOT use Eagle's for a motor like this!!!

well i figured saying eagle woulf raise a flag of urgency to respond in this cas also which would be best for cam clearence on a 3.875 stroke ive been leaning toward oliver seems to be the the choice of high horse builds
The billet is still a forging. Its just not forged to net shape. Its cut out of a plate of material on a cnc mill. This allows the manufactuer to offer several lengths and beam profiles.
You do know the manufactuers will talk to you on the phone, right? You're not the first guy to build a strong small block.

15lbs of boost is not going to net 1,400hp. on a small block with 23 degree heads. But you do need a better rod than the Eagle for a hi-po application. I like Oliver's, but the others mentioned are good too. You are also going to need a top quality crank, btw.
