Replacing Valve Seals with Heads on Block.
Replacing Valve Seals with Heads on Block.
Hi All,
Long time no see!
I know this isn't too advanced for most of you, but it may help others with similar questions:
I'm about to change my valve seals. I have the heads on and
110 PSI pressurizing the cylinder.
I am using a screw type spring compressor.
The spring is compressing fine, but the retainer is not moving down
the valve stem. I tried tapping the top of the compressor in hopes
that the spring and compressor would slide down the valve
shaft, but no luck.
Here's a link with some photos:

Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone run into this problem
before?
Thanks for any tips.

Take a socket that will fit around the locks, and will rest on the retainers, and tap it with a hammer a few times. You need to break them loose so they will separate. You should be good to go after that.
