Quality of TRW/Speed Pro Pistons

I dont think I will get the responses I am looking for on the nitrous forums since this question is more about engine component durability on and off the bottle.

I have a 350HO crate engine and I would like to ditch the cast pistons in it. It has a nodular iron crank and forged PM rods, but came with cast aluminum pistons. I would like to spray a 200 shot on this bottom end every once in a while, and am curious how the TRW's hold up to nitrous and stout motor setups. I think a set of decent forged pistons, the GM forged PM connecting rods and a decent crankshaft would make for a stout enough bottom end to put through a bit of abuse.

If I tear the motor apart I will sell my cast iron vortecs and pick up a set of E-tec 200's, have them ported, put a solid roller cam in that I have laying around (254/260@.050, .650/.640, 110LSA), and put a piston in the motor that will net me as close to 11.5:1 as possible.

On a 200 shot I think this would be a stout combination. Anyways, do you guys think a TRW or Speed Pro would work in my situation assuming I am running a good tune on and off the nitrous?

Thanks

Im running the trw/speedpro forged pistons and have no problem spraying 175 at them,by the way My buick is running the e-tech 200's and they are a really nice piece. Im also using trw/speedpro forged on that engine to with 12.5 to1 compression and a super victor intake.

Thanks for the reply! Did you flow the E-tecs when you got them? What does the Buick run?

The buick regal runs a 9.70 on a 200 shot 10.80's on the motor,I didnt port the heads or anything I did port the runners on the intake though. Yeah they would be real close running n/a I recently knocked down a 12.38 on the motor 3 weeks ago,Im going back on friday with a few chasis mods that hopfully will have me running 10.90's on the spray. If your going to spray over 175 with the trw's deburr all the sharp edges off the top off the pistons to help fight detonation.

Can you give me your complete setup in detail with the buick, mainly the motor, transmission and stall speed?

Thanks!

The engine is a 60 over 350 4 bolt with e tech 200's super victor intake and a holly 750 double pumper with a proform main body. Its running a solid comp cams magnum series 260at.50 duration 555 lift its got polished eagle I beam rods and a scat forged crank. It has forged speed pro pistons with deburred tops and I used gapless racing rings for less leak down. Its got a hamburger deep pan with a crank scraper and windage tray. The tranny is a beefed up turbo 350 with a cheetah reverse pattern valve body and a transbrake. Its running a 200 shot of nitrous through a plate system. The rear uses 4.10 gears and 28/12.50 et drags.

Thatd be great, seth@3gc.net . What stall converter are you running and what stall speed is it?

I appreciate your replies. This is what I am looking at:

350 or 377 (STD bore 350 4.000" bore)
11.5:1 compression
Forged TRW/Speed Pro Pistons
Forged I Beam Rods
Scat 9000 or GM Nodular Iron Cast Crankshaft
E-tec 200cc cylinder heads with port work
Custom Solid Roller (290/298, 254/260@.050, .650/.640lift, 110lsa) Camshaft
Super Victor for vortecs
Speed Demon mech secondaries 750 carb
3.73's, Hughes 3000 stall converter, 26" ET Drags

Do you think this setup could go low 11's?

Thanks!

Seth
