Your piston is 0.50" out of the hole??? That's a major problem. What kind of motor do you have?

Slow down and try to form you question(s) in a sentence that doesn't require reading 3 times to understand

7.100 does seem kind of short. and .500 is WAY to far out of the bore.. even .050 is too much.. i hop you mean .005

what length valves? if you milled the heads, and decked the block, with stock length valves.. I would guess you would need around a 7.150.

Stock pushrods for gen I and II SBC with OEM roller cams are 7.195" or 7.200" in length, depending what you read. Decking the block and milling the heads generall decrease the needed length, but high lift cams and high ratio rockers require a longer PR.

The heads were almost certainly milled 0.030", not 0.300". In that case, your numbers do seem pretty short. Maybe you should have someone else check your measurements.

my lift on my cam is 520 and my non self aligning roller rockers are 1.6 so i think that my over all lift is ending up being like 560.

I think i could run longer push rod but i kept coming up with 7.10 on the intake i could run the 7.15 but 7.10 keeps the roller tip travel in the center of the valve better than 7.15 but i will recheck again

also I checked the pistons they are flush with the deck surface

i checked it rechecked and checked it again. when i put in the 7.150 its to long when i run the 7.100 it centers it better but 7.20 IS WAY TO LONG almost falls off the tip.

the lifter should not be collapsed at all right??? i just drop in the rr tighten the adjustable nut (with the allen screw out) with my fingers till the push rod cant move up and down any more. then i tighten it 1/8 turn.

i have screwed my checker tool out 6 times it is a comp checker tool 6.800 to 7.800 adjustable in .50 incraments so 6 x .50 = .3 so i get 7.100 dont think im doing any thing wrong
