Exclamation Piston to valve clearance on this LT1 cam?

Just wondering if any of you would be able to help me on this. I have a cam that the specs are as follows: 234/241, 576/595 on a 111.8 LSA. I was wondering with that lift and 2.0/1.56 valves do you think that I would have piston to valve clearance problems if I milled my LT1 heads .020 with a .039 head gasket? I really want to get a bit more compression out of it, but I don't want to have to rebuild while I am at it. The pistons are stock type(flat top) .040 over with valve reliefs. Please let me know if you have any insight. Thanks.

Aaron

IMO you shouldnt have an issue. But that is my opinion and thats it.

Any "will i have PTV clearance issue with this setup" question makes me think of the "how much hp will i make by doing these mods" question, beacuse no one can tell you for sure. Each setup is difrent, the only way to find out is try it and check to see if you have clearance...

Since peak valve lift occurs nowhere near TDC, piston-to-valve clearance is more of a function of duration.

That said, a friend of mine ran .029" head gaskets with a 244/244 cam on a stock long block.

Thanks man. I am just trying to see if anyone has any experiences with this type of setup like this. I have seen people with 306's that have milled .020 and used a .029 head gasket opn a stock bottom end and have been ok. That helps make me think that I have a better chance of getting away with it. I sure do hope it is ok If anyone else has any experiences that are similar to this please let me know. I will probably end up measuring just in case, but I would like to know if there is no chance before I bother getting the heads done.
