Its been done, but very rarely - because most people dont want to give up power without a reason. If your in a racing class asking 310 cubes or less for example, you probably want another engine/block anyway.

You will either build up the car for say 9,000 RPM ($$$), or else your wasting power by throwing the cubes away. If you want to be different, put a Honda engine in there, nobody has done that yet I bet.

My response was a bit sassy (Honduh), but destroking the engine has no real value. If I were strokin' it I'd go 383 probably, although the 396 sure has a nice historic ring to it.

Yup, the "Baby LT1" is called the L99 and was only found in some 94-96 Caprice sedans. The wagons, Roadmasters, Fleetwoods, and Impalas never got this engine.

Personally, I think GM should've offered this in the S10s since they use the same tranny and rear end.

A d stroked motor will totally d stroy your torque, which will have a d trimental effect on your launch, and will d ny you that stong bottom end we all d sire. It might de difficult to d termine what type of crank to use, as well. If I were you I would d molish any plans you have of d stroking.
