Oil pump drive
Oil pump drive
The engine I had in my car for 3800 miles that I pulled had a Melling high volume pump, when I pulled the drive out of the lifter valley the hold down arm was cracked. Does anyone make a heavy duty metal case for the oil pump drive, has anyone even investigated this? Surely the guys with DFI that spin over 7000 RPM's have seen this problem. Any better parts available?

are you talking about a better Canton Oil Pump Driveshaft like the one on racenet http://www.lt1f-body.racenet.net/oil-system.php sorry im confused
As far as I know no aftermarket part exists. The stock piece should hold up fine..... Most crack due to tightening the bolt too tight. I add a large machined flat washer under the bolt so it spreads the load better & have had no problems on several of these.
I had my stock one crack on me so I thought it would be a good idea to replace it..Put the new one and it cracked also..If you look at it real close thats really not the part holding it down. If I remember the part in the middle that the bolt head holds down is made of alot harder material..
I just made sure I used Loc-tite on the bolt..
